Hula at the Mauna Lani

Tonight we went to a free HULA show at the shops at Mauna Lani--a resort pretty close to us. We even won a FREE GLASS BOTTOM BOAT RIDE for the five of us! Whoo hoo. The girls loved watching the hula dancers, but were wondering why they show their belly buttons:). They had free macadamia nuts and Brenna kept passing them out to all the people sitting around us.
We finally got keys to our rental house. Move in is on Saturday.

Things I have learned here: 1. You call all older ladies "Auntie." 2. "Mauka" is a direction meaning toward the mountain side and Makai means toward the ocean. 3. Electricity is really expensive -- like $250 a month just to run your A/C. And hardly anyone uses it. Even in church. 4. Most people are really friendly here - feels a lot like southern hospitality.

Tidepools

We checked out the tidepools that are about 5 minutes from our house. So fun!

We made it!!

So we have been here over a week now! I can't believe it. It has gone by so fast. Sad to say but I lost my camera, so these are really the only pictures we have out here. We are staying at a condo until we find a place. We think we found one today, but it will probably be a week before it is ready for us to move in. The girls are ready for us to be settled, but are enjoying going to the pool here or the beach. This beach below is called Hapuna beach. We have heard this is one of the best on the island.
I need to get a picture of Sadie. She learned to roll over from her back to her front and now does it all the time. She won't lay on her back for anything! She has also started scooting around forward. She has been able to go backwards, but now she is really moving. A first for our girls, Dallas and Brenna never could do that.
It was a little overwhelming flying in to Kona and driving up to our place we are staying. 15 miles of black volcano rock and ocean. It looks to say it nicely that you are on the moon. But we have driven more around the island and seen some GORGEOUS places. I am excited to see more!

Moving To:

Kona, HI!! We have 1 week left here in CA before we move. Nathan graduated, passed all his boards and found a job on the big island. We are so excited he is done with school! We have been visiting with all of our family here, and in Alabama and Utah and it has been so fun. We will miss everyone so much. But hope to get lots of visits:)!!
