Tonight we went to a free HULA show at the shops at Mauna Lani--a resort pretty close to us. We even won a FREE GLASS BOTTOM BOAT RIDE for the five of us! Whoo hoo. The girls loved watching the hula dancers, but were wondering why they show their belly buttons:). They had free macadamia nuts and Brenna kept passing them out to all the people sitting around us.
We finally got keys to our rental house. Move in is on Saturday.
Things I have learned here: 1. You call all older ladies "Auntie." 2. "Mauka" is a direction meaning toward the mountain side and Makai means toward the ocean. 3. Electricity is really expensive -- like $250 a month just to run your A/C. And hardly anyone uses it. Even in church. 4. Most people are really friendly here - feels a lot like southern hospitality.
